1. General Principles
At Core Trading Enterprise, we prioritize transparency. Since our products involve significant transport logistics, we encourage all clients to inspect containers upon delivery. Our policy is governed by the South African Consumer Protection Act (No. 68 of 2008).
2. The Right to Inspect (Section 19)
Upon delivery, you have the legal right to examine the container to ensure it meets the specifications, grade, and quality agreed upon in your quote.
- If the unit is materially different from the description (e.g., you ordered a Grade A and received a Grade C), you may refuse delivery immediately.
- In such cases, Core Trading Enterprise will replace the unit or issue a full refund at no additional transport cost to the customer.
3. Returns for Defective Goods (Section 55 & 56)
If a latent defect is discovered after delivery that was not apparent during the initial inspection (e.g., a structural leak not visible in dry weather):
- 6-Month Warranty: You are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund if the goods are found to be defective within six months of delivery.
- Exclusions: This warranty does not cover damage caused by site preparation failure, unauthorized modifications, overloading, or “fair wear and tear” consistent with the container’s age/grade.
4. “Change of Mind” & Cancellations
- Before Dispatch: You may cancel your order at any time before the vehicle has left our depot for a full refund.
- After Dispatch/Delivery: Because containers are high-cost logistics items, “change of mind” returns (where the unit is not defective) are subject to:
- The customer covering both the original delivery fee and the return transport fee.
- A 15% handling/restocking fee to cover crane operations and administrative costs.
- Note: Specially modified or painted containers (Custom Orders) cannot be returned for “change of mind.”
5. Refund Process
- Method: Approved refunds will be processed via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) into the original account used for payment.
- Timeline: Once a refund is approved or the unit is returned to our depot, please allow 7 to 10 business days for the funds to reflect in your account.
- Documentation: A valid tax invoice and a signed “Reason for Return” form are required for all refund requests.
6. ECT Act (Cooling-Off Period)
In accordance with the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, if you purchased your container via an online “click-to-buy” process without prior physical inspection, you have a 7-day cooling-off period. However, the customer remains responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods to our depot.
Important Logistics Note for Returns:
Site Access: If a return is approved, the customer must ensure the site is accessible for our crane trucks. If the unit has been moved to an inaccessible location or obstructed by other structures, Core Trading Enterprise reserves the right to charge for additional recovery equipment.
